About Me

I am a Registered Social Worker and a Registered Psychotherapist.  As a Registered Psychotherapist (RP), my services are regulated under the Psychotherapy Act and by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).  I am also a Registered Social Worker (RSW) with The Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).
Over the past 20+ years, I have worked with several multidisciplinary teams in a variety of settings. I have provided counselling in community organizations, mental health services, family health teams and hospitals as well as private counselling agencies. I feel passionate about my work and feel honoured when individuals choose to share their healing journey with me.
My education includes a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Guelph and a Bachelor of Social Work Honours from Ryerson University.  I have had additional clinical training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I have also had training in Perinatal Depression and Anxiety and training in supporting late pregnancy loss.  With children and adolescents, my practice has included Play Therapy methods for anxiety and depression.  I am currently working towards a specialization in Couple and Family Therapy with a Post-Graduate Advanced Certificate in Couple and Family Therapy at the University of Guelph.
It was my personal journey through therapy that made me want to become a therapist.  Therapy helped me make sense of a difficult time in life and created the safe space I needed to learn practical coping skills and heal.  I feel passionate about therapy because I know it is effective for healing and personal growth. I strive to assist individuals in empowering themselves and moving towards a life they value. We will work together using various therapeutic modalities to help you on a journey to recovery.

I understand that the hardest part when deciding to look for a therapist is finding the right therapist. Someone that you feel you can speak to with openness. This is often called “having a good therapeutic fit”.

I have worked with people from all different walks of life.  As a social worker, my services are anti-oppressive and do not discriminate. My goal is to provide you with a safe space to speak about whatever issue you may be needing assistance with at this time.

My hope is that working together you will feel feel heard, validated, have more authentic relationships and learn coping skills. I would be honoured to be part of your healing journey!

Some of the people I work with are:

-school age children (ages 7-12)

-adolescence (ages 13-19)

-adults of all ages

-families and couples

-military/veterans (RCMP and Canadian Armed Forces)

Some of the people I provide therapy services to have a mental health diagnosis but many are seeking additional support and coaching while going through a specific struggle or issue.
