About Me

I am a Registered Social Worker and a Registered Psychotherapist.  As a Registered Psychotherapist, my services are regulated under the Psychotherapy Act and by the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario.  I am also a Registered Social Worker with the College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
It was my personal journey through therapy that made me want to become a therapist.  Therapy helped me make sense of a difficult time in life and created the safe space I needed to learn effective coping skills and heal. Speaking with a therapist helped me understand myself, my relationships, family of origin and build a more authentic life. I feel passionate about therapy because I know it is effective for healing and personal growth. I strive to assist individuals to empower themselves and move towards a life they value. We will work together using various therapeutic modalities to help you on a journey to recovery.
Over the past 20 years, I have worked with several multidisciplinary teams in a variety of settings. These include community organizations, mental health services, public health care settings such as family health teams and hospitals as well as private counselling agencies. My education includes a Bachelors of Arts focused on Psychology from the University of Guelph and a Bachelors of Social Work (Honours) from Ryerson University. I also hold a Diploma with Distinction from St. Lawrence College in Psychosocial Rehabilitation. I have had additional clinical training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. Most recently my training has included Perinatal well-being to support women and men with Prenatal (before birth) Perinatal (after birth) Depression and Anxiety as well as training in late pregnancy loss.  I have also completed training  focused on Treating Anxiety using Play Therapy for children and adolescents.

I understand that the hardest part when deciding to look for a therapist is finding the right therapist. Someone that you feel you can speak to with openness. This is often called “having a good therapeutic fit”.

I have worked with people from all different walks of life.  As a social worker, my services are anti-oppressive and do not discriminate. My goal is to provide you with a safe space to speak about whatever issue you may be needing assistance with at this time.

My hope is that working together you will feel feel heard, validated, have more authentic relationships and learn coping skills. I would be honoured to be part of your healing journey!

Some of the people I work with are:

-school age children (ages 7-12)

-adolescence (ages 13-19)

-adults of all ages

-military/veterans (RCMP and Canadian Armed Forces)

Some of the people I provide therapy services to have a mental health diagnosis but many are seeking additional support and coaching while going through a specific struggle or issue.
